A weekend in the Vanoise: a first family accompanied by Des Sommets pour une Étoile
On 20 and 21 June 2026, the association Des Sommets pour une Étoile organised its first weekend in the mountains. A family and their three children spent two days in the Vanoise, with a night at the Péclet-Polset refuge.
A first night in a mountain refuge
The parents and their three children, Lou (8), Joakin (11) and Timothée (14, in remission), were already used to hiking. However, they had never spent a night in a mountain refuge.
At the start, each child receives a cap and a backpack with their name on it, to carry a water bottle, a picnic and a sweater. The backpacks were made by Estelle, from Bobine Club.
Three hours of walking up to 2,474 metres
The Péclet-Polset refuge stands at an altitude of 2,474 metres. It takes three hours of walking to get there, among marmots, with a few snowballs thrown at the adults.
A time for silence, a time for words
Once at the refuge: settling in, looking around, sharing this time as a family. Walking leaves room for silence and for words. People talk about what they have been through, and about how to live now.
The next day, heading for Lac Blanc
Lac Blanc is still under snow. The group walks around it on a small path, then heads back down the trail to return to Lyon. Lou wanted to see at least 30 marmots over the weekend. Goal achieved.
A successful bet, a new weekend in 2027
In the evening, as she was going to bed in the refuge, Lou said to Anne-Sophie: “Thank you, it was great.”
For the association, this confirms that these weekends are meaningful. A new trip is planned for 2027.
